Fox Terrier Afghan CAL- Week #9

IRIS COLORS – anything you like such as Brown, Light Brown, Blue, Green, Orange, Rust, or Gold. It is best not to use a very dark color, however. Merle dogs can have 2 different colored eyes, which I love.

Special Terms Used:

KNOT – Also known as an Anchor Knot, this is a method of securing a color to be dropped and later be picked up again. This will give you less ends to deal with when finished. To KNOT, remove your hook and pull out a large enough loop to pass your work (or ball of yarn in some cases) through, then pull it closed tight right against your work.

FINISH – This is a way to complete a round of slst to there is not obvious join. By using your tapestry needle, sew the end beneath the legs of the first slst from outside inward. Next, sew straight down between the legs of the last stitch made. Secure this tail on the WS.

Notes:

1. Eyes are made from the RS only.

2. Work each round into the BLO of the previous round.

3. Mark the first stitch of each round so you know where to join.

4. When slst’ing around, make your stitches loose by pulling the stitch a little too tall before making the next stitch. You will want your eye to lie flat, so if it is cupping, your stitches are too tight.

5. All ends should be secured on the WS by tying pairs of ends together and trimming the excess.

6. If your round 4 color is black, then you do not have to FO at the end of round 4 and can join as normal.

1. (Black) in a MR, ch1 and place 6sc. Join with a slst to the beginning sc. Close ring and KNOT. (6)

2. (Iris Color) Join with a ch1 in the first stitch. Working BLO throughout, 2sc in the same. 2hdc in the next. 3hdc in each of the next 2. 2hdc in the next, 2sc in the last. Join with a slst to the beginning sc and FO. (14)

3. (Black) Pick up black in the first stitch with a slst. Slst BLO loosely in each stitch around. FO, FINISH. (14)

4. (Color for that side of the dog’s face) Join in the first stitch with a ch1. Working BLO, 3hdc in the same stitch. (Hdc, sc) in the next. 2sc in the next. Sc in the next. Slst loosely in the next 6. Sc in the next, 2sc in the next. (Sc, hdc) in the next, 3hdc in the last. Join with a slst and FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Use white to embroider 2 dots to the side of the Iris as light glints.

Smooth-Hair and Wire-Hair

Position the eyes sitting on 25^th row of the square, set in 1 inch from the sides. The join is the top center of the eye. Use the long tail to sew to the face. Sew just around the edge.

For Wire-Hair

With (MC) to match the outer round of the eye, cut 14 strands about 3 inches long.

You will be attaching them to the center 8 hdc at the top.

Attach each individual strand to the stitches with a double knot in the formation illustrated in the previous picture.

Trim to be about 1 inch long.

Ik ga voor veel variatie, zodat er geen vlakken met één kleur komen, dit scheelt tijd in de planning,

Ogen

(2x voor elke hond)

IRIS kleuren – Bruin, Licht Bruin, Blauw, Groen, Oranje, Roest, of Goud.

Neem een niet te donkere kleur . voor de gemêleerde honden kan je ook 2 verschillende kleuren gebruiken,

Speciale termen:

KNOT – Ook bekend als een anker knoop, Dit is een methode voor het aanhechten van een kleur om te worden verwijderd en later weer op te pakken. Hierdoor heeft u minder uiteinden te behandelen als u klaar bent. de KNOT, uw nld verwijderen en trek een grote lus door(of knopen in sommige gevallen), trek het dan aan tegen het werk

EINDE – dit is het afsluiten van een ronde m/hv. Met gebruik van naainaald, de volgende steek nabootsen.. rijg de draad dicht langs de kant.

Notities:

1. Haak de ogen alleen aan de goede kant.

2. Haak alle rnd in BLO.

3. Markeer elke eerste st v/d ronde.

4. Bij gebruik van hv haak los genoeg om de nld in te kunnen steken. Leg het deel plat om te controleren dat het deel plat blijft

5. Alle draden op de achterkant afhechten.

6. Als uw 4e ronde zwart is , dan niet afkanten.

1. (zwart) in een Magische Ring, 1-l, 6v in de ring. Sluit m/hv. Sluit de ring en KNOT. (6)

2. (Iris kleur) aanhechten met 1-l. in BLO, 2v in dezelfde st, 2hstk in 1st, (3hstk in 1st) x2, 2hstk in 1st, 2v
in de laatste st. sluit m/hv en afkanten. (14)

3. (zwart) neem de zwarte draad op m/hv in BLO losjes in elke st. afkanten. (14)

4. (kleur passend bij het gezicht) aanhechten met 1-l in 1e st. in BLO, 3hstk in dezelfde st. (Hstk, v) in 1st, 2v in 1st, 1v, 6hv, 1v, 2v in 1st. (v, hstk) in 1st, 3hstk in laatste st. sluit m/hv en lange draad .

Met wit een glinstering borduren.

Glad harig en lang harig

Plaats de ogen in 25e rij v/h vierkant, 2.5 cm vanaf de zijkant.
Naai direct langs de rand.
