Buggables: Tobacco Hornworm

At last there is a 2nd installment of Buggables: Bugs You Can Hug!

This stylized and simplified version of a big squishy caterpillar is very easy and a lot of fun to make! This Tobacco Hornworm won’t actually eat your tomato plants, so you can love him without any mixed feelings! Kids and weird bug-loving grown-ups like me get a real kick out of these giant insects!

This pattern is rated Easy, though it does involve color-changes, surface slip-stitch, and stitching into the ends of rows which may be new to some. The instructions are exhaustively detailed with lots of photos and drawings, so any motivated crocheter will find it easy and enjoyable to make. The pattern is arranged for ease of following, color-changes handled in a simple way. All other stitches and techniques are very basic, as the construction is simple and many tips and hints for shortcuts and quicker finishing.

This is a 10-page PDF download in American Crochet Terms, uses very common materials. Completely crocheted with all soft parts, so suitable for all ages. Materials will include 1 full 7oz skein of your main color and less than 50yds of any of the other colors + about 8 oz of stuffing. Included in the pattern is a short bio on the Tobacco Hornworm, so you can get an idea why people love/hate them so much!
